The details, in plain language
Privacy.
What stays on your Mac.
What’s sent, and where it goes.
01 / The Mac app
No telemetry. No accounts.
JMacy is a native Mac download manager made by Greycore Labs LLC. The app does not collect telemetry, and you do not need an account to use it.
Your access to JMacy is checked through Setapp, described below.
02 / Setapp access
What the Setapp check does.
JMacy is distributed through Setapp. The Setapp framework built into the app asks the Setapp app on your Mac whether your membership is active, and reports app usage to Setapp so Setapp can pay developers. Setapp’s own privacy policy covers what Setapp collects.
- Sent to Greycore Labs
- Nothing. JMacy sends no license key, machine identifier, or usage data to Greycore Labs.
- Earlier direct-purchase versions
- Versions of JMacy sold directly before October 2026 send a license key and a hashed machine ID to Greycore Labs’ server to check the license. That edition is no longer distributed.
03 / Browser extension
From your browser to JMacy.
The JMacy browser extension reads the information needed to capture a download:
- Download URLs.
- Cookies for the downloading site only, so logged-in downloads work.
- Media URLs on the current page, including mp4, mp3, and webm files.
Only to the app on the same Mac.
The extension sends this information only to the JMacy app running on the same Mac. It never sends this information to any server.
This applies to the JMacy extension for Chrome, Aside, Brave, Edge, Arc, Vivaldi, and Safari.
